On Neil's right shoulder, what does the tattoo say? Or is it not relevant to the character Neil?
I thought it said "From Hunger" but that doesn't really make sense.
You can get a good look at it in Episode 3 at 3:52.
I completely agree with the above posters. The tattoo belongs there because he's still just Neil from Trenton and requires no in-show explanation at all. It might be funny to incorporate it into the show somehow since it's an interesting phrase but hardly necessary. Love the backstory.
I don't think the tattoo needs to be worked into the story at all. LON is about an average guy who gets transported into a video game. The tattoo is from his everyday life. What more explanation does it need?
That's an awsome story, Tony! Tatoos that mean something are the best! As for writing it into the story, hmm. Maybe something like Memento. He woke up with it and doesn't know what it means, doesn't even know he has it yet since he hasn't seen any mirrors? That will give you some time to write it into some future plot complication. :D
funnygirl is close. it says "from hunger III". my grandpa joe had a jeep during his time in the korean war, and it was such a piece of crap, he named it "from hunger". in his later years he had a boat which he named "from hunger II". myself and my two brothers used to go on his boat with him and fish, sometimes for catfish, and sometimes with salami, on the ohio river. a few years after he passed away, while i was living in a friend's laundry room, broke, during the winter in chicago, i decided to get the tattoo. joe had a great sense of humor, and he used to always make my brothers and i laugh our asses off. so, there you go.
Is it wrong that I can't help but think that... I dunno... you have a tattoo labeling you as the 3rd in a line of vehicles your grandfather owned? ** Okay. I said it. I'm cool with it now. ** Sometimes, ya know, you just have to mention a guy's got six fingers or one blue eye and one brown eye just one and then you're okay with it after that. ** Forget I typed anything... and hit "Post comment" after I typed that. ** I mean, it wouldn't be like I mentioned anything if I hit "Cancel" instead. Ya know? ** No really. I think it's cool to have something in honor of one's family. ** It's just that... I'm just one guy in a long line of guys who's family line ends with a bastard. We might have record breaking family reunions, but it doesn't change the fact that we're all bastards. ** Is that something to be proud of? No! Everyone's a bastard nowadays. Just try talking to someone. You'll see.
it's the name of a boat i believe that has lots of family meaning with his father and grandfather. some manly family thing with boats. tony is hard core like that.
yeah, we, uh totally meant to keep that there. yeah... um... keep trying to figure out what it means. It says "From Hunger II." There's, uh... definitely deep meaning and it's totally not an oversight by the me to take it out. yeah, that's it.
yeah basically we already shot some stuff with it and then i noticed it later... so we just rolled with it. but now i have to find some magical way to weave it into the story... or not :)

Leo, i agree man.
Me too. Actually I though you had left the tattoo visible on purpose, just to achieve the effect Leo is describing...

It was a sad story, i'm glad you manage to stand back on your feet :)

Actually... the family line 'begins' with a bastard... not 'ends with'. Well... not yet anyway.

Soooooo, it doesn't have anything to do with LoN?
I am having a hard time cutting through the sarcasm.

What was the reason Tony Janning had it put on his shoulder? What does it mean? "From Hunger II"
