about me: Rick Mitchell's love for comedy was evident at the early age of fetus, when he first performed stand-up during the second trimester. Playing to a packed stomach, Rick became popular with his joke about the irony of owning a cordless phone despite being attached to a cord himself. Six months later, Rick moved out of his mother's stomach into the real world, taking a hiatus from comedy until the age of 18. Rick's new career started in Sacramento, California, honing his act at the local comedy clubs, while also earning a degree in Film and Media Studies from UC Davis. He quickly brought his stand-up to other cities, such as San Francisco and Reno, and many discovered that his act was a tale for the ages... ages 4-12. But fortunately, Rick learned to cater his comedy to all age demographics... except people who are 93. Deciding writing was the career for him, Rick moved to Los Angeles and enrolled in a graduate screenwriting program at Loyola Marymount University. Rick has participated in many facets of the comedy industry including improv, sketch writing and performance, and filmmaking, as well as being a recent alum of the Warner Bros. Comedy Writer's Workshop. Rick continues to perform stand-up in San Francisco and Sacramento, and regularly in L.A. at some of the most prestigious comedy stages including the Improv, the Laugh Factory, and the Ice House. But Rick does not forget his roots, occasionally returning to his mother's stomach to perform. "Rick is by far one of the most brilliantly clever comedy writers and performers out there today. His amazingly well-crafted material, combined with a very likeable stage presence guarantees him a very bright future." Audiences will agree that Rick Mitchell wrote that quote himself. THE END. |
